About this dataset
- Source: Virginia Circuit Court Information System (CIS), 2025 calendar year. Each Commonwealth's Attorney office is identified by its jurisdiction's FIPS code; CIS does not publish individual prosecutor names by case.
- Office-level only. We do not name individual assistant Commonwealth's Attorneys, and we make no claims about who handled which case.
- The 19th Judicial Circuit (Fairfax County, Fairfax City, Falls Church) Circuit Court is not in CIS — those offices are not included. Coverage notes.
- Volume bands: A ≥1,000 filings · B 500–999 · C 200–499 · D 50–199 · E <50. Lower-band offices have wider rate confidence intervals — read the volume band before quoting any percentage.
- Federal cases are not included. Probation-revocation matters are tracked separately on each office page and are excluded from the trial-on-contested denominator.
